Working together to stimulate business innovation

On 28 May, representatives of Bay Zoltán Applied Research Nonprofit Ltd. and MGFÜ Public Nonprofit Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

The Bay Zoltán Public Nonprofit Ltd. is Hungary’s leading applied research institute, supporting the competitiveness of economic actors and the ESG preparedness of market players. Its aim is to contribute to the technological innovation and sustainable development of Hungarian enterprises by promoting the market exploitation of scientific results. MGFÜ is Hungary’s central business development agency, which, among other things, helps businesses adapt to the green transition and raise ESG awareness through awareness-raising activities.

The two organisations will work together to increase the competitiveness and efficiency of SMEs through successful innovation and technology transfer. The two companies have also agreed to jointly organise professional workshops, training and information events.

A separate agreement was also signed between the two organisations to jointly promote the sustainable operation, development and green transition of businesses and support their ESG preparation.

Tamás Fehérváry, Executive Director of MGFÜ, stressed that the main task of the agreement is to stimulate the R&D and innovation activities of domestic SMEs and to promote ESG awareness. He added that it is also important to coordinate communication activities in order to effectively address the actors of the domestic SME sector, as it is crucial that business development programmes reach the market actors.

Dr Balázs Schmidt, Managing Director of the Bay Zoltán Research Centre, stressed:

“The Bay Zoltán Research Centre is the home base for applied research: we have more than 150 researchers, a 10,000 square metre laboratory infrastructure with national coverage and hundreds of national and international partners. We build our services on five main areas of knowledge – materials science, circular economy, agrobiotechnology, energy and environmental validation.

The agreement we have just concluded creates an opportunity to put these competences at the service of small and medium-sized enterprises in Hungary in an even more targeted way. We believe that innovation is the foundation of a competitive and sustainable economy – and we want to be not only partners but also active drivers of innovation for domestic businesses.”
