The Zaol, Zala County news portal reported on the consortium signature signed last week

“The University of Pannonia and its consortium partners, including MOL, have won a HUF 4.775 billion grant from the National Research, Development and Innovation Office to establish the “Sustainability based on circular economy” competence centre in Veszprém and Nagykanizsa in the next three years. The contract was signed recently by the partners.

The main objective of the emerging Sustainability Competence Centre will be to build a high-level R&D infrastructure and knowledge base, and to establish a competitive R&D&I development network. The establishment of the Sustainability Competence Centre will start in March this year and is expected to be completed in Veszprém and Nagykanizsa in February 2023.

Our cooperation will create a sustainability competence centre at the University of Pannonia, based on circular economy principles, which we hope will soon put us not only at the forefront of Hungarian developments, but also on the international map of innovation developments. With our strategic partnership, we are launching an exemplary collaboration, and we are working with the university and the young talents of the future to realise many more such forward-looking ideas. ” – said Zsolt Hernádi, Chairman and CEO of MOL Group.

The Competence Centre fits well with MOL’s 2030 strategy, which has sustainability as one of its key objectives, and further strengthens university cooperation. The project will enable the consortium to become the country’s leading research and development force in the fields of environmental protection, sustainability and responsible management of raw materials and mineral resources.
