How to survive in the V4?

Phosphorus Friends Club for improving resilience in the Visegrad countries.

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of phosphorus as a raw material and the importance of recycling in the Visegrad countries (V4 – Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia).

There are several technologies for phosphorus recovery from waste and fertiliser production, but these are not used in the V4. One reason for this is the lack of clear information on phosphorus as a secondary resource and its potential for recovery. The project therefore aims to fill this gap.

To this end, phosphorus management strategies are being developed to ensure that the phosphorus needed for food production can be obtained even from waste and that countries do not have to import it.

The project will map the phosphorus-rich waste of the Visegrad countries, and then carry out an economic analysis of the potential for phosphorus recovery from waste. Awareness-raising events, workshops and conferences will be organised.

As a result of the project, phosphorus management roadmaps will be developed to improve the efficiency of phosphorus utilization, increase import independence and ensure food production security during and after the COVID epidemic.
