KIC RAISE (RawMaterials Students Internship) Bay Zoltán Kutatóközpont

The RAISE project aims to provide secondary school students with the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the work of research laboratories and institutes in order to better understand the raw materials sector through internships.

The RAISE project aims to help secondary school students facing a career choice to make responsible decisions about their future professional development through the internships it provides, with an informed focus on professional development in raw materials. Within the framework of the project, the students selected for the internship will have the opportunity to participate in a 2-3 week placement, where they will be able to learn in detail about the thematic and relevant pillars of the KIC and the professional opportunities related to raw materials.

In recent years, students graduating from high school have been confronted with the fundamental questions of a) what their role in society is, b) how they can improve and enrich the communities in which they live, so that their expectations meet the areas in which they are talented and, by applying them, contribute to the effective functioning of the different economic sections of the world. And the choice of these opportunities also determines the areas in which students go on to university. In this process, however, students tend to ignore the real opportunities and feedback from the real world.

Conversely, young people often misjudge their future career prospects and how their personal knowledge and skills can enrich and improve their chosen field of study, as a consequence of their lack of knowledge or the poor reputation of a particular field.

And decisions made on the basis of emotion and incomplete information often result in wasted time, whereby they choose studies that are not right for them, and their frustration can lead to wasted talent and even drop out of their studies.

The aim of the RAISE project is to support students to identify specific areas of knowledge or professions within the raw materials fields during their internships, which, by exploiting their talents and successfully enriching their knowledge, will provide them with positive experiences and a sense of commitment, thus encouraging them to make good career choices and to continue their studies in the right direction.

After theoretical and laboratory exercises, the students who have the opportunity to participate in the internship can get acquainted with the operation of some companies related to the topic, and after the internship they can report on their positive experiences to their classmates in their schools, thus strengthening their ability to make responsible decisions about their further education.

The project is supported by the EIT KIC Raw Materials.
