Objective
The aim of the project is to compile different methods to improve the collection of WEEE in different circumstances in the EU and to disseminate this information to the target audience; businesses, producers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and other organisations involved in the production of e-waste.
The solution (technology)
The dissemination of information is aimed at raising awareness of the (secondary) raw materials sector in general and takes the form of workshops. These workshops and the business models for delivering them will be tested during dissemination. The targeted end-users and main beneficiaries of this educational activity are, on the one hand, businesses that can dispose of WEEE at lower cost or with more revenue and, on the other hand, recycling, remanufacturing and repair businesses that need more e-waste. For the target audience, the main benefits are reduced collection costs (municipalities) and more raw materials for processing (recycling, remanufacturing and repair). The project will develop different ways to improve the collection of WEEE from businesses and disseminate this information to the target audience. The main outputs are (i) a website providing an overview of the methods for separate collection of EEE/WEEE by enterprises, (ii) a workshop for at least 200 enterprises, (iii) a document on best practices for the delivery of workshops, (iv) and a business model for these workshops for KIC-LE. The website will also include a platform for businesses to contact each other for the purpose of WEEE exchange and bechmarking. The main impact of the project will be to reduce the disposal costs of WEEE for businesses, increase the amount of WEEE for recycling and increase the amount of WEEE for repair and remanufacturing companies.
