Project summary:
The goal of the Bay Zoltán Research Institutes’ polymer technology excellence project is to create a complex body of knowledge and technological know-how, including industrial research and experimental development, which will enable the Bay Zoltán Research Centre to become a quality player in the field of polymer materials science. What is important in this vision is that we do not only want to move forward at the level of basic materials and modelling, but also to take the Centre beyond technological development to a concrete centre of excellence. The Competence Centre would be able to nurture the innovations developed up to TRL 6 level, which could then be taken up by large industry.
In the last year, we have received requests from several of our industrial partners pointing in this direction, and this is in line with our corporate strategic direction to strengthen the transition to sustainability and the circular economy. At the end of a successful project, we expect satisfied industrial operators, high added value and competences that can be drawn on by external actors, which will help them to be competitive in Europe and will be a green investment in the future. Last but not least, one of the key values of the competence centre is its ability to reduce the risk-taking of the SME sector, as it can test the innovations developed in the laboratory in small-scale conditions (up to TRL 6).
