Our analytical laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for both industrial and research purposes, as well as a fully equipped chemical laboratory, which allows for versatile, in-depth analysis of material samples.

We can also analyse the chemical composition, structure, crystalline or amorphous state, surface morphology and microstructure of metallic and non-metallic materials, composite systems, layers, coatings and industrial intermediate or final product samples.

The technological background of the laboratory is provided by the following key analytical tools and procedures:

  • Inductively Coupled Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES): provides the possibility for quantitative analysis of multiple elements in metal alloys, solutions and other matrices with high sensitivity.
  • Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR): can be used to identify various organic compounds, bond types, functional groups, even from complex matrices.
  • Scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX): a local elemental analysis complemented by high-resolution imaging, which is excellent for the investigation of coatings, surface layers and microstructures.
  • X-ray diffraction (XRD): it can be used to determine the crystal structure, phase composition, crystallite size and to detect amorphous regions.
  • A special feature of the laboratory is that we have several types of heat treatment furnaces, which can be used to perform precise heat treatment cycles in vacuum and in different controlled gas atmospheres (e.g. argon, nitrogen, hydrogen).
  • In the chemical laboratory, it is also possible to perform classical analytical methods, such as preparation (solution, drying, pH and conductivity measurements), titrimetry or other chemical procedures that effectively complement instrumental measurements.
  • Our laboratory activities play a key role in providing a professional basis for our own R&D projects, while also providing reliable support to our industrial partners in the fields of material identification, quality control, failure analysis, certification or process validation.
